How You Inspire Us to Do Greater

As a member, you’re also an owner of Greater Nevada Credit Union. That means everything we do at GNCU revolves around helping more people – especially you, our member – live greater. So how does the team at GNCU know the best way to serve you? Through your direct feedback.

At GNCU, we receive feedback from members in a variety of ways, including ongoing surveys; emails, letters and phone calls; and conversations we have with members directly. Most importantly, we use our members’ suggestions and ideas to inspire us. Some of our newest offerings, including even more rewarding checking accounts, expanded student loan options, a card manager app and an evergrowing network of branches and interactive teller machines are all a result of having the ability to truly understand what our members want and need.

Although we won’t be able to always offer everything every member asks for, I’m pleased to say our most recent member satisfaction survey reports that 98% of members are satisfied with GNCU (with 75% being very satisfied). Specifically, we’ve seen ongoing and growing member satisfaction in the value GNCU provides, as well as the quality of our products and services.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to share their ideas and feedback. You truly do inspire us as we continuously strive to help you live greater.

Wally Murray
President and CEO

STATE-OF-THE-ART Technology for a GREATER EXPERIENCE

You may have noticed a new type of ATM popping up at your local GNCU branch. Using these Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs), you can complete a transaction on your own or get help from a video member service representative (VMSR) through secure videoconferencing.

Did you know?

  • You don’t even need your debit card when talking with a VMSR – just have your driver’s license ready.
  • You can transfer funds, make loan payments, deposit cash and checks, even make withdrawals or cash checks up to $1,500. Plus, your withdrawal can be in $50, $20, $5 or $1 bills.
  • VMSRs can help update your address and phone number, order debit cards and checks and unlock online banking from an ITM.
  • VMSRs are available during extended hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

What Should You Do with Your Old 401(k)?

CHOICE 1: Leave It with Your Previous Employer There are benefits of leaving your plan where it is. Your current investments are low cost, have limited availability outside of the plan and maintain certain creditor protections. The downside is you may pay less attention to the ongoing management of the old account’s investments.

CHOICE 2: Transfer to Your New Employer’s Plan If your current employer’s 401(k) accepts transfers, you may want to consider moving your assets over to the new plan. The primary benefit? The convenience of consolidating your assets and retaining strong creditor protections.

CHOICE 3: Roll Over Assets to a Traditional Individual Retirement Account (IRA) Although a drawback to this approach could be less creditor protection, a traditional IRA may provide a wider range of investment choices than your new 401(k) plan.

Financial AdvisorsRemember: Don’t feel rushed to make a decision; you have time to consider your choices, and our financial advisors are here to help.

Advisors are registered representatives offering securities and advisory services through Cetera Advisor Networks LLC, member FINRA/SIPC, a broker/dealer and a Registered Investment Adviser. Cetera is under separate ownership from any other named entity. Registered address: 481 Eagle Station Lane, Carson City, NV 89701/ 6745 Sierra Center Parkway, Reno, NV 89511 /4131 N. Carson Street, Carson City, NV 89706. Investments are not deposits • Not NCUSIF insured • Not insured by any federal government agency • No credit union guarantee • May lose value.

Withdrawals from traditional IRAs are taxed as ordinary income and, if taken before age 59½, may be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty. Generally, once you reach age 70½, you must begin taking required minimum distributions. Before deciding whether to retain assets in a 401(k) or roll over to an IRA, an investor should consider various factors including, but not limited to, investment options, fees and expenses, services, withdrawal penalties, protection from creditors and legal judgments, required minimum distributions and possession of employer stock. Please view the Investor Alerts section of the FINRA website for additional information.

Save up to $200 Each Month* on Your Auto Loan

GNCU members saved an average of $2,400* annually with our Payment Saver Auto Loan in 2018.

The cost of purchasing a new or used vehicle is at an all-time high and can be hard on potential buyers. GNCU’s Payment Saver Auto Loans offer flexibility so you end up with a loan that works for you. Similar to leasing, your payment may be much lower but you still own the vehicle and can sell it, trade it or buy it outright. Payment Saver Loans are also a great fit if you trade in cars after a few years or want to get the most car for your money.

What You Need to Know:

  • Available for new and used vehicles up to five years old
  • Flexible loan terms up to 72 months
  • No first or last payment required and no early payoff penalty
  • Up to 100% financing with no money down*

We also offer traditional financing, credit re-builder and first-time buyer loans, and auto loan refinancing, so no matter what you need we have the right loan for you. Apply online now or call (855) LIV-GR8R (548-4787).

Personal Loan or Line of Credit*: What’s Best?

No matter how much we plan, it can be hard to set aside enough savings to cover unexpected expenses. Personal loans and lines of credit can help, but first it’s important to understand the difference.

What is a personal loan? Personal loans are established for a set amount and are repaid in equal payments over a fixed term. This type of loan is ideal for unexpected purchases like replacing a broken appliance. Personal loans can also be used to consolidate high-rate credit cards and pay down the debt with a lower single payment.

What is a personal line of credit? Similar to a credit card, personal lines of credit can be used when needed, repaid and then used again up to a preset limit. Personal lines of credit can also be linked to a checking account and provide overdraft protection. If flexibility and availability are what you need then a personal line of credit may be a good fit.
