Tips from the Experts: Save Time and Skip the LineGNCU Banking Resources

GNCU is constantly looking for ways to make it easier to take care of your finances so you can spend more tim enjoying your life. Here are just a few ways we help do that.

Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs):

Many GNCU branches now offer ITMs to easily and securely conduct transactions via our video member service representatives. The next time you’re at a branch, try out the ITM to see for yourself how quick and convenient it is.

Telephone, Online, & Video Lending:

There are several different ways to speak with a loan consultant at GNCU, including via phone at any GNCU branch or by calling (855) LIV-GR8R. And in several branches members can enjoy private video teleconferencing with a GNCU loan consultant. Online applications are also available any time at gncu.org.

eBranch Online & Mobile Banking:

Of course, you can always skip a trip to the branch by using GNCU’s free, secure eBranch online and mobile banking. Check your balance, make transfers, and even deposit checks directly from your mobile device.

Greater Communities

At GNCU we help more people in the communities we serve Live Greater in a variety of ways, including fundraising and volunteering. Following are a few highlights of our community outreach efforts over the psat several months.
  • In October GNCU hosted the annual luncheon celebrating the GNCU Community Partners Program at Greater Nevada Field. Last year more than $80,000 was raised for 90+ local organizations that support our communities. 
  • November included helping Special Olympics Nevada athletes during their annual Bowling Regional. GNCU volunteers were on hand to cheer on th eparticipants and assist at the event.

 
  • December featured our month-long Greater Giving donation drive, where GNCU collected toys, food, and other items for those in need. In totoal, 3,501 items were donated!

 
  • In 2019 GNCU provided financial literacy to 1,300 students in 18 locations across northern Nevada. That included a hands-on financial simulation, Bite of Reality, presented in November to Silver Stage High School Seniors so they could better understand the importance of budgeting.

Your Board of Directors Candidates

Its election time at Greater Nevada Credit Union, and this year we have four individual seeking to fill two available positions on the Board of Directors.

We thank them in advance for their interst in being part of a Board who volunteer their time, experience, and knowledge to oversee the direction of your credit union. The GNCU Board is comprised of seven Directors, all elected to serve three -year terms, which expire on a rotating basis. As a member-owned financial cooperative, Greater Nevada has a uniqe operating structure that gives members the opportunity to choose who will serve on thier Board through the annual election process. This means that you play an important role in Greater Nevada's future by completing and returning the ballot below.

Occupation: Self Employed – Land Use Planning Consulting/Commercial Real Estate

Education: AA Management, American River College; BA Urban Geography, University of California, Davis; MS Land Use Planning Administration with Minor in Public Administration, ABT, University of Nevada, Reno

Statement: It has been a pleasure to serve the owner-members of GNCU over the past several years, currently as Board Vice-Chair. With you constantly in mind, we strive to maintain fiscal health and high standards. Due largely to the strength and experience of our management and staff, and guidance of a dedicated Board, we have enhanced cutting-edge technology to meet the financial needs of our members. We continue to increase branches and services such as reward checking accounts, interactive teller machines, mobile services, expanded student scholarships and lending. I respectfully request your vote to continue representing the owner-members of GNCU.

Statement: It has been my pleasure to serve our members on the Board of Directors for the past 23 years. Again, I am seeking re-election to continue using my experience, education and skills to further our credit union's growth and financial security. My background in finance and budgeting will benefit the Board as Greater Nevada continues to grow in assisting members in meeting their financial goals. Our credit union will continue to be challenged as our state's growth and needs rapidly expand, and my experience will be a valuable asset to the Board as we move into the future.

Statement: As a fourth generation Nevadan who has seen many challenges, I believe opportunities are born from challenges and life experiences. I faced such challenges and became a leader. I hope my leadership skills will contribute to the success and potential of GNCU. Those skills include financial management, business planning, business development, strategic planning, and being a dependable team player. I have over 25 years of service with GNCU, including involvement in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Northern Nevada Railway Foundation, Wells Alumni Association and the Nevada Credit Union Advisory Council. It would be an honor and a privilege to represent the membership on this Board.

Statement: GNCU is the first financial institution that I have been a part of in 20 years of banking that I can honestly say I enjoy being a part of and have had nothing but a great experience. I have a unique skill set and education that has been tailored toward increasing value to customers and improving overall user experiences. I am a native Nevadan and would love the opportunity to be able to participate and give back to my community.
