For years, the Reno-Sparks area hasn’t been known for much more than its gambling and tourism, but recently there has been growth in our state’s technology industry. Nearly all of us in northern Nevada know Tesla is moving in, but we can’t forget about Apple, which made its deal first in 2012 and now Switch, which was recently announced to be bringing the world’s largest data center to town.

Each of these businesses moving here are great victories, though the real question is how will they impact our lives as residents?

Unsolicited Calls, Texts & Emails – Protect Yourself from Phishing Scams

It’s sad to say but many of us have experienced, or at least know someone who has had their credit card or debit card information stolen. In our digital age, we no longer fear the purse snatcher but instead have to worry about cyber thieves stealing our money or identity.

When you think of your information getting stolen, you might think it’s due to an online shopping incident or a gas station that got hacked. However, in today’s rapidly changing world it’s not just those types of circumstances anymore.

When internet frauds trick you into giving up your personal information, this is called phishing. You can be the victim of a phishing scam from all sorts of ways, such as through an email, a phone call, or even a text message. Learn how to identify these scams and take preventative action.

The Trick to Buying Your Next Home

Recently having moved to Northern Nevada and currently trying to sell my old house, I have begun my research on how to go about buying my next one. Plus, with the holiday hump over, the housing market will start to pick up soon with more options available, so I decided it would be good to have my ducks in a row.

New Year’s Resolution: Spend Less, Save More

Every year, millions of us vow to be better, get healthy, or improve our lives in some way. We call these vows our New Year’s Resolutions. Of those resolutions, one that always seems to be in the top ten for Americans is to save more money.
 
It‘s taken me years to learn how to save, but I can tell you that it can be simple once you get a routine down.
