How to Find Your Auto Loan Interest for Tax Reporting

Greater Nevada Credit Union members with auto loans can easily access their year-to-date (YTD) finance charge information, which may be helpful when preparing 2025 tax filings.
Recent federal guidance allows lenders to provide auto loan interest totals directly to borrowers through statements or digital access. While eligibility for any tax deduction depends on individual circumstances, GNCU is making it simple for members to locate the information they may need.
Where to Find Your Auto Loan Interest
Members can find their YTD finance charge by reviewing their December 31, 2025 statement, either online through digital banking or on the mailed statement.
To locate it:
- Open your December 31, 2025 statement
- Navigate to your auto loan
- View the year-to-date finance charge listed for the loan
This total reflects the interest paid on your auto loan during the 2025 calendar year.
Vehicle Eligibility and VIN Information
For members who purchased a vehicle in 2025, eligibility for any potential tax deduction may depend on factors such as:
- The type of vehicle
- Where the vehicle was assembled
- Whether the loan meets federal requirements
Some tax preparation tools may prompt you to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to determine eligibility. GNCU does not determine eligibility for tax deductions but provides the interest information needed for your records.
Important Tax Reminder
Greater Nevada Credit Union does not provide tax advice. Tax rules and eligibility can vary based on individual circumstances. Members are encouraged to consult a qualified tax professional or visit the IRS website for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
