Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About the Greater Nevada Merger with America First Credit Union
As of October 1, 2026, Greater Nevada Credit Union is a division of America First Credit Union. While some changes will occur over time, members can continue banking as they do today. We are committed to making this transition as clear and simple as possible. Below are answers to common questions about accounts, access, rates, fees, and membership.
About the Transition
-
Why are Greater Nevada and America First joining together?
This merger brings together Greater Nevada’s local focus with America First’s scale, strength, and resources. Our goal is to continue serving members and communities while expanding access, convenience, and long-term value.
-
Do I need to take any action right now?
No. There is nothing you need to do at this time. Please continue using your Greater Nevada accounts as you do today, including visiting or calling the same branches, using Digital Banking, and using your debit cards as you normally do. If you need to take action in the future, we will provide clear instructions and advance notice.
-
Will my account number change?
Your Greater Nevada accounts, account numbers, services, and access will remain the same for now and will continue to be separate from America First until the conversion date. Please continue using your accounts as you do today. We will provide clear guidance before any future changes take place.
-
Will my Digital Banking login change?
The merger became official after all required approvals were received and the process was completed. Throughout the process, both organizations worked closely with regulators and completed all required steps before the merger was finalized at the beginning of October. By bringing together the strengths of Greater Nevada and America First, we can provide Nevada members with greater access, additional resources, and more benefits over time.
-
Will there be any downtime or service interruptions?
No service interruption is expected on October 1, 2026. Please continue accessing and using your Greater Nevada accounts as you do today. We will communicate in advance if future changes are expected to affect service availability.
-
Are my deposits still federally insured?
Yes. Your deposits will continue to be federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to applicable insurance limits.
If you had deposits at both Greater Nevada and America First before the merger, those deposits generally remain separately insured for six months following October 1, 2026. Certain Share Certificates may remain separately insured beyond the six-month period:
• If a Share Certificate matures after the six-month period, it generally remains separately insured until its first maturity date after that period.
• If a Share Certificate matures during the six-month period and is renewed for the same term and dollar amount, separate coverage generally continues until its first maturity date after the six-month period.
• If a Share Certificate is renewed on different terms or is not renewed, separate coverage generally ends when the six-month period expires.
